Oh Come, Divine Messiah! The joy of Our Lady is truly ours in this Advent Season leading up to the luminously beautiful celebration of Christ’s Birth. One of the blessings of living in the Monastery is that of being free from the hustle and bustle that has come to be associated with preparation for Christmas. While there is much to do during Advent, we can still focus on preparing for the coming of the Infant Jesus. Like most folks, we accumulate a lot of “excess baggage” on our pilgrimage to Heaven. Jubilee Pilgrim Rosary: October 27-28

On the occasion of our 800th Jubilee, the Dominican Order has organized an international Pilgrim Rosary hosted in turn by each of the 202 monasteries of cloistered Dominican nuns throughout the world.  Our monastery’s assigned dates are Thursday, October 27 – Friday, October 28, the feast of Sts. Simon and Jude. On Thursday, we will be celebrating the Joyful Mysteries and Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary.  We will celebrate the Glorious Mysteries on Friday morning. We wish everyone a blessed feast of our Holy Father St. Dominic, a most special celebration during this 800th Jubilee! On the morning of January 25th, during this Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, our postulant Sister Chelsea prostrated before Mother asking for “God’s mercy and yours.” This was gladly given as the ceremony of the Reception of the Dominican Habit unfolded. As she began her canonical Novitiate period, Sister also received her new name: Sister Mary Rose of the Pure Heart, a triple invocation of Our Lady, the Mystical Rose.
